Show 1st Ward MIA E"!ay Praised High in the list or exceptional entertainment was the Delta 1st ward MIA production Tuesday night of "What Doth It Profit", by-Nathan by-Nathan and Ruth Hale. Directed by Orvetta Nickle and Wilbur Franklin, Frank-lin, the 3-act play, depicting family fam-ily life and problems in St. George in 1872 was performed with sincerity sin-cerity and an abundance of real talent. Kathleen Ekstrom and ' Choral Robison ably portrayed the young wives whose problems were with their husbands, Gordon Edwards and John Dewsnup, anxious to get ahead. Talent hitherto unsuspected unsuspect-ed was revealed by John Dewsnup, ordinarily one of the quiet type; in his acting of Judd Barnett, family tyrant. Lilac Holman made a fine mother, and Sharon Robison and Barth Black played the likable youngsters. Martha Dutson and Hamilton McCullough made the most of the comedy in their parts of gossipy neighbors. LaVar Shields and Bill Law were the friendly farm hands, and that was Leigh Maxfield behind the black beard of the early day business man. j Lulu Pearson and Ruth Searle as- i sisted with the costuming, which ' included some family heirlooms. ; v j The purple gown worn in the last . ' ; ' act by Miss Ekstrom was the wed- ! ( . ding gown of Arvetta Nickle's j : grandmother. The white apron worn by Mrs. Holman in Act III ; belonged to the mother of the late Irvin Jeffery. ; " The old-timers quartet who fur- ished music between acts are Evan Christensen, Eldon Sorenson, Ivan Andrus and John Peterson.
