Show H CONSIDER THE CRAB H Former Vice President MarshaH savs H he "knew a man in Indiana who suffered H a serious accident. When he recovered H he found that whenever he tried to walk forward he went backward and the only H way he could advance was to make him- B self believe he was going backward. He H compares that man's predicament with H the Democratic party, and suggests that H if the party wishes to make progress it H must go backward to the principles of H Jefferson upon which it was founded. We H can all subscribe to that sentiment. There H must always be opposing political groups H in this country, but each group should be H animated with patriotism for the United H ' States. Some of Jefferson's policies do H not accord with the Republican idea of H government today, but he was a true pat- H riot, which cannot be said of the intcrna- H tionalists that have controlled his party HH in recent years. |
