Show WAR BROUGHT HOME TO j THE HOY I Some one has written a poem I for Boys' Life which is a strong appeal in favor of peace: When wo get to lighting, our fathers step .in 4 And say it is wrong, a shame and a sin, With "Why in the world did you ever begin, - . Scratching and biting? A black, eye at your age; why; gob'dness 'me, j Your faco is so -battered you hardly can see What kind of a man will yo;J I grow up to be Constantly fighting!" But some fellow's daddy kills some fellow's dad, The finest old daddy a boy ever had, And half of the world is shouting shout-ing like mad, When men disagree. And now they are fighting by millions they say, Thousands of daddies are killed every day, With no one to stop them or pull them away ,. And no referee. W Wc know very little of war and its schemes. Wo can't understand what all of it means, But when war takes our daddies dad-dies it certainly seems That fighting should cease. It strikes us as foolish that men think they must Keep shooting and stabbing. Oh why, can't they just Shako hands and have peace ? |
