Show LAHOR FEDERATION OPENS CONVENTION Regular Organization of the United Garment Workers of America Upheld Philadelphia, Nov. 9. There was but one contest in the sealing seal-ing of delegates in the thirty-fourth thirty-fourth annual meeting of the American Federation of Labor, which opened here today, and that was decided in favor of those elected by the regular organization or-ganization of the United Garment Gar-ment Workers of America. The delegates seated are Thomas Eckert and Bernard Larger, president and general secretary respectively, of .the Garment Workers' union. Trouble arose in that union some time ago, with the result that a certain number of members mem-bers held a separate convention and elected a set of delegates to the federation convention. The convention, in seating Eckert and Larger today, put itself on record as reaffirming the action of tho Atlantic City convention that members who secede from their regular organization or-ganization forfeit their right to consideration by the American Federation of Labor. The report of the credentials committee showed H58 delegates dele-gates in attendance, representing represent-ing 2,020,000 members. The entire afternoon was tak-en tak-en up with tho reading of the annual report of the executive council of the federation. The report reviewed the work of the federation for the past ycjir and the general labor movement in America and Europe. In connection with the jurisdictional juris-dictional fight between the United Uni-ted Brotherhood of Carpenters and the Sheet Metal Workers union over the manufacture and erection of metal trimmings for buildings, the convention adopted adopt-ed the recommendation of the executive council that a committee com-mittee of nine be appointed, with the purpose of bringing about an agreement between tne two cralts, tne committee to report not later than next Monday.
