Show '' ' : Some; Salary Inconsistences The County Commissioners in their desire to elevate salaries took a chance at the law in favor of the Sheriff, Clerk, Treasurer and Attorney but when it came to some of the o1 ther fellows there was nothing ' doing. The Assassor apparently was not worthy of consideration and what is more the deputy Assessors were not looked upon to be worth as much as the common every day laborer. Three dolars per day was the price fixed for the men who are to pass on the property of Logan City taxpayers, the returns'f rom which furnish the money to run the county government. Think of it! Five dollars per day for a sheriff, a clerk and a treasurer and three dollars per day for a more important position than either of them.. In the matter .of deputy assessors their hands were not tied either, ihey were not going against any law, but when these men asked for four dollars per day, they were turned down. Of course we do not know whether all the deputies are worth more than three dollars per day. Some of them are, and we do know that all of them ought to be, or they are unfit to be assessors. These are some of the inconsistencies incon-sistencies of the present salary experts. . |
