Show THE BRIGHAM YOUNG COLLEGE HAS I A MAGNIFICENT PORTLAND EXHIBIT I On Wednesday the material that will form the H. Y. C. exhibit at Portland Port-land was shipped to the director of the educational department. It consists of a splendid lot of work from several of the dopaitmcpts, principally, of course, Jtrpui.ftJio,! manual' training cHylslons, ami' from tho art classes. Tho carpentry work Includes an excellent ex-cellent piece of furniture made by a thlid year student. It Is a hard wood revolving bookcase of unique pattern and tine finish. There will bo also a table, a cupboard and a set of models In Joining, etc., tho work ofllrst year students. Tho forge department will bo.equal-ly bo.equal-ly well represented. It is surprising to see the finely modeled and finished hammers, tongs, wrenches and chains that have come from the hands of first year students, and tho work shown gives evidence of thorough and ctllclcnt Instruction. Somo twenty- seven articles will be In this display, HJ all hand work, though It is easy to ' HJ Imagine that machinery must have HJ been used. , HJ Professor Wright has collected and ' HJ sent a set of student drawings In vl crayon, showing the several steps ot H instruction in art, from tho simplest H to somo high class work In oil. i'H The domestic urts work shown will ;H be a dress and somo other apparel with )l sample books of needle work, all of !, high grade! H The commercial department sent '- bookkeeping exercises and tlieio were H bound volumes of exercises In trig- ''iH onomotry, mechanical drawings, H training school work, etc., which to- gcthcr with photographs of building, , H grounds, classes, oillccrs of the college H and tho board of trustees will mako up H a display that will do credit to the H Institution, and will attract attention M to the splendid work being done.
