MILES STORE AT SMITHFIELD ' - Sheriff Smith Is out after a forger & about 23 years of age, light com plex-loiied, plex-loiied, f feet f,en In height and medium weight. The young man forged Prof. J. A. Uexell's name to a $48 checi, .. went to Smlthtleld, bought a $2! sujt "A of elothesof E. It. Miles Jr. and was given a $20 check as a balance. Ho returned re-turned to Logan and presented the I cheek to the Cache A'alley llank' and was paid. The original $43 check was drawn in favor of J. W. Jenson, and the Miles check was made out to J. W. Jenson. When the last check was presentcd-to tho Cache Valley Hank .it was endorsed en-dorsed by J. W. Jenson and tho Miles signature carried It tluough. The f6rged check was dated May 11, but was presented to Miles on the 17th, and the Miles check given as balance was cashed by the Cache Valley Hank on the 17th. Miles' sent the forged check to the Thatcher 'bank all unsuspecting, and in the clearance with tlio First National bank on whom the forged check was drawn, the forgery-was discovered. The young man Miles, who sold the forger the suit of clothes, gives a good description of the fellow, and would easily recognle him, but at -present the otllcershavo not been able to get on his track. |
