Hamburg's first Bourse, established In 1558-16C0, was a sholterloss, paved moetlng placo, 112 feot long and 42 feet wldo, supported toward the water wat-er front by means of bulwarks, and having Its thrco othor sides surrounded surround-ed by a low stono wall. In 1E77 the bourse was enlarged by adding a cloth hall, suppllod with a roof. The presont bourso also dlffors In many respects considerably from American and othor forolgn exchanges. No membership exists hero, but attend ance and admittance to all privileges of tho floor free of chargo Is permitted permit-ted to every respcctablo male person. |
