Show RAILWAY IN PHILIPPINES. Proposed to Build a Line From Manila to North End of Island. Secretary Root has been In correspondence corre-spondence with Governor Taft regarding regard-ing tho construction of a system of rialroads In tho Philippine islands amounting to somo 600 miles. It Is proposed to build a lino from Manila north through Luzon to a harbor at tho northernmost end of the Island. Another projected lino is a branch from tho north nnd south lino over tho mountains to tho eastern coast. Another An-other proposed lino Is from Manila south to Batangas. It has been sug-gostod sug-gostod also that a lino bo constructed along tbo west coast of Luzon from Dagupan, tho present terminus of tho Manila nnd Dagupan rood, to the north end of tho Island. |
