Show Logan Wins. One of the best ball games of the season was plajcd Thursday between the Logan and Smithfleld teams. The Smithtleld team did not put up its usual game, while the Logan bo).s never plajed so well. Tho ground was fought Inch by Inch and at the titst half of the ninth innings the score stood eight to two in favor of Logan. RIght-flelder McLean for Logan is worthy of special mention, he having made one of the prettiest catches ever seen on the local diamond. Henry Hancy, of the Smithtleld team did ex-ceeelngly ex-ceeelngly well for a young fellow. He Is a sure hitter, not many balls going past him without his feeling them. The Hcusscr bo)s, Logan's battery, also did some excellent work and deserve de-serve commendation. One of the enjoyable en-joyable features was Rill Holler and Ills antics. It was icgrettcd by many to see W. G. Griffith withdraw as umpire. The Jests and remarks from tho grandstand grand-stand In connection with a point that was raised between himself and the pitcher Earnest Heusser, caused'hlm to withdraw. All umpires should use their best judgment in fairness, and then stand pat, never, retire. James Langton succeeded Mr. Griffith as umpire. um-pire.
