Show Consul Formerly Newspaper Man. Ho was then owner of a newspnper, but wbb not sufficiently wealthy to meet his weekly payroll, so ho used to swap checks with a friend who had n good bank nccount. Tho friend finally final-ly grow tired and said to the major: "Why don't you put n roof on that building, Edwards? It's high enough now." "Can't do It," was the reply. "Fact Is I havo contracted to pay for tho whole thing when trie building Is roofed In." Tho major eventually mado arrangements which enabled him to put the roof on. |
