Show RAILWAY ACCIDENTS. Tho Intlr-Statc Commerce Controls- M slon have Issued a statement which shows that during tho throo H months ended Sept. 30. 1002, H thcro wero 2(13 persons killed and H 2,013 Injured in train accidents. H Other accidents, including those H sustained by employes whllo at work H and by passengers In getting on or H off cars, etc., bring the total number IH of casualties up to 12,007, tho killed H numbering 815, and the Injured 11,102. H During tho three months covered by jH the statement the traillo of a largo iH majority of the railroads has been IH heavier than over before, necessitate H Ing the employment of new men lit JH train and yard work. jH The total number of collisions and H derailments was 2, 148, of which 1,444 were collisions and 1,014 derailments, H ot which 51 collisions and 1)2 derail- incuts effected passenger trains. Tho H damage to cars, engines and roadways Ll by the accidents amounted $2,108,- jJ We do not know tho sources from iH which the Commission gets this in- jH formation but wo donot bcllovo tho jH figures given arc any where near cor- rcct.
