Show PETITION COUNCIL. Merchants Ask that Glty Send Man East to Sell the bonds for City's Light Plant. The following petition was present to the City Council Wednesday evening: even-ing: Wo tho undersigned business men and taxpayers of Logan City, respectfully respect-fully suggest to your Honorablo body that whereas the taxpayers in overwhelming over-whelming majority voted a bond for the building of an electric light plant and whereas tho Stato of Utah's bid for the same was accepted, but afterwards after-wards refuse to pay for samo without a dcclsslon of the Supremo Count of their legality and whereas tho caso has been continued month after month until over one half of your term of olllco hits now expired and not even a commencement. While at the same time tho prices of lights have been raised to an exorbitant and unbearable un-bearable price. Tho street lights alone having been raised to $230 per month or 4 per cent on their entire plant. For tho above reason and others that might bo mentioned, we now ask that no moro time or money be spent In court delays but that the case be ordered continued until further fur-ther notice and that you appoint some responsible man outside of your honorable body with authority to go cast and sell the bonds. Should It then prove that nono will buy them without a Supreme Court decision then you will be Justlllcd In taking chances in an expensive law suit but not until then.
