Show CARNIVAL OF DANCING Tuesday Evening Drew Fair Corwd and was Very Pleasing. The carnival of dancing at the Thatcher Opeia House Tuesday evening, even-ing, given under tho direction of Miss Jean Ingi.iham, was a very pleasant aiTali and atfouled excellcntentertaln-nient excellcntentertaln-nient for 'the fali-sled audience that gieeeted the poifornicis, who langed In years fiom four to joung ladles who will make their debut befoie many jcius. The costumes weie dalntj-. the dancesaud dilllsveiy pret-tyf pret-tyf and the alfali an cntho success. The Lovcis fiom Spain, the first numbei, was done very nicely by Ella and Vivian Hatch, who acted as modestly mod-estly as most loveis do. And Patience Thatchor as a "Butterflj" was Just as "cute" as she could be. Little Patience was thoroughly at home throughout the entile performance. The "Mischievous Bogies" wcic gay looking little tots with hoins and lanterns who did all manner of fancy step dancing. They danced around like rubber balls, and were recalled by the hearty cheeilng. The Piench Skirt Dance by Miss Annlo Edwauls was very enjojablc Indeed and lellectcd considerable credit on both heiself and Mlss'lngra-liain. Mlss'lngra-liain. The motions arc graceful and pretty and of sulllelent variation to make the dance very charming when well done. Miss Edwauls was ic-called. ic-called. The Ballet of the Fairies was as piettyas could be and piobably the nioie enjojablc for the reason that the failles couldn't, wouldn't and didn't act In haimony woith a cent. They seampcied'aiound in lather a pioinlscous fashion, as fairies should, and cared for naught but bklpplng light-heartedly hi the coloird light tluownovcr them. Theli costumes weie very dainty, and the audience showed the piopei appicciation of the ballet by heaity applause. The Sei pontine Dance, given by Miss Cairie Ilalvoisen, lacked the vivacity of the piofesslonal, but in point of peifectlon of motion, sin passed pass-ed most of tho professional peiform-ances peiform-ances of this kind. In the piofesslonal piofes-slonal work the serpentine Idea Is lost In rapid motion and a maze of flowing lingerie and there Is a semblance of the whirling Dervish. With Miss Ilalvoisen the giaceful motion, and retention of the original idea In serpentine ser-pentine dancing, made the. dance a very pleasing one. "Merry Making In Old England" must have been of the real sort If any-thlng any-thlng In the nature of the performance perform-ance given by the girls Tuesday night. Eveiy thing was life and motion and some of the steps were new and delightful. de-lightful. Vailous llgures wcic very pietty, and In this entire performance the girls showed the result of excellent excel-lent tialnlng. Eighteen took pait In this and they formed their figures, skipped and danced with such pic-clslonand pic-clslonand In such haimony as to call forth a gcneious applause as they left the stage. Tho Cake "Walk was tho real aitlcle and Florence Hanks and Lou Thatcher Thatch-er coveted themselves with gloiv. Both of the little girls aie naturally graceful and charming In action and appeaiance, find in their fancy steps dlsplajcd such consumunatc skill as to excite applause tluoughout the entile dance. They weie recalled. Miss Ingraham's Russian Maouika gave her an oppoitunity to display her acknowledged giacefulness and supeilor ability as a fancy dancer, and she was not disappointing. She handled heiself as a master of the ait, and left nothing to bo desired. Miss Ingiahain gained a local icputation in her dancing with the Coilantou com-pan com-pan j and she has since been In gieat favor. Her peifoimancc last night but added adinhers to her aheady huge list. The Red Hussai Dill! was piobably the most delightful number on tho piogram, the joung ladles acquitting themselves like veteians at the woik. Their movements weie as near pei-fect pei-fect as any thing done by the K. of P. iiiio dilll teams at tho big conclave lu San Fianclsco last jear, and not sm passed bj anj of the ciack companies com-panies of lcgulais at the Dewej parade In New Yoik thiee or lorn jcusago. They marched and counter matched, bv two thiees, fouis and platoon-: tliey filed and ctoss filed, foimed squaies and llgutcs with tcmaikable picclslon In pci feet tlmo and as though (hilled by a tnastei. The costumes weie decidedly "chic," and the entile numbei a thing of pleasuio 0.1 longas It lasted. Tho gills weie ie-called ie-called but lcsponded only to become a paituf the giand tableaux-, the closing numbei |
