Show MAN STRUCK BY LIGHTNING Is Knocked Down While Working In Field Rendered Unconscious and Team Of Horses Killed. Special to The Republican. Newton, June 2C Eli Hansen of this place was knocked down and rendered ren-dered unconscious and both of his horses killed by a bolt of lightning while working upon his farm near Alexander, Idaho, last week. According to tho meager roporti which hnvo Just reached tho relatives here, Mr. Hanson and his hrotner-t law, Oliver Jenkins, were out working work-ing In tho field, the former driving his team harrowing, and the latter following at some distance, plowing. A severe thundor storm nroso and suddenly a vivid flash of lightning followed fol-lowed almoBt Immediately by a terrific ter-rific crnsh of thunder, startled the team which Mr. Jenkins was driving As soon as ho had got tho horses under un-der control, Mr. Jenkins looked In tho direction of his companion and was horrified to seo Hansen and the two horses lying In a holpless heap on tho ground. Hastening to his sldo ho found tho victim unconscious and breathing with great difficulty. After extricating Hansen from his position Jenkins ran to tho homo of a Mr Simmons, near by and togethor thoy carried tho Injured man to the house. It required over an hour to bring Hansen back to consciousness and a physician was called Inter ntteud to his wounds. Both of the horses were killed outright out-right by tho bolt nnd Mr. Hanson Is congratulating hlrnsolt on his providential provi-dential escape, in which he is joined by tho entire peoplo of v :i |
