Show I A Good Show H "Notnt all bad" was the general H veidlcr. ol the people leaving the tlion H trc last Thursday nljjht after Hip per H formaiicc of Dip lllack Crook Thr- H fact Is Die Mack Crook has been play- m ine for ) ears and our fathers hart told H us thai It was just, a little olT color H 60 many musical comedies and spec- tacular plays have come, and pone H slnco the birth of the Black Crook and H we have become so sophisticated In H the matter of abbreviated sklrts.flesh- H ' IriRS, and lingerie that many had lies!- H tated about Rettlntf tickets and won- H dercd whether the Black Crook were m really worth while and whether It H could fullll the promise nf Its lurid H posters. All wcie most nirreeably dls- H appointed for they found much famtl- H lar, pleasing music, a comyany that H did some excellent work, and a plot H ns Incoherent, Interesting and useful H as the average comic opera plot. The H audience didn't give a tiang whether H Amina and Rodolphe ever got married H or not, or whether Zunlol should gel H the better of Hertzog In magic wiles H but It did enjoy the specialties. The H singing of Mr. Pierce and Miss Roslyn H was especially good. They have grand H opera voices and would not be out of H place In any of Savage's opera com- H panles. Mr. Fierce sang Hovey's well H known "Stein Song" and Miss Hoslyn H sang Maschcronl's "For all Ktcrnlty," and both gavo together a "Toreaf or Eoog," an Indian scene and a scene from "II Trovatore." It should also be mentioned that the shapely contours con-tours of Miss fioslyn as revealed by the simple costume of the fairy queen were a Joy to the eye. Next In favor was Miss Drowning, who did some telling Impersonations of Anna Held, Vesta Victoria, Eddie Foy and Alice Lioyd in such a way that her hearers enjojed the Imitations as much as they would have the originals. Then there was a ballet, to the huge delight o, the front row and farther back; a fair comedian, much would-be magic and fairy stage settings, and some clever acrobats It was a pleasure to bi! tlicre.for the most cordial relations were soon established betwceti the audience and the stage and encores ucic numerous On the whole the ' Black Crook In spite of Its age Is up-to-date, for, like all the musical comedies, come-dies, it Is only a scanty plot on which is hung an excellent vaudeville per-formance. per-formance.
