Show Bad Accident j at Richmond! Leon Merrill Kicked in Face by a Horse. RICHMOND, April 24 -Leon Merrill, Mer-rill, of this place, met with a bad accident ac-cident Tuesday, tho ellect of which he will no doubt feel for some time. He. was unhitching his team about noon, after he had been plowing all morning, when one of the animals gave a vicious kick, striking young Merrill square In the mouth. Two large gashes In the lower lip and jaw were cut, tho upper Jaw was broken and several teeth knocked out. The young man must have been saying "whoa," or had his mouth open, as the roof of the same was also badly cut. Geo. Webb, who was plowing In a nearby field, hurried to the scene and no time was lost In getting the injured and blood covered man to the doctor's, where his wounds were dressed and put lu good condition. It required fourteen stitches to close up the cuts. Last Monday and Wednesday a large crowd gathered at our depot to bid goodbye and Godspeed to four more of our boys who left on missions. Ar-vet Ar-vet L. Whittle took the noon train and will labor In the southern states mission; Erastus Johnson, Ephram Adamson and Newell F. Bullcn left Wednesday morning, the former two go to the Scandinavian mission, while the latter will work In the British mission. The familiar and smiling face of S. R. Telford has been missing around town for over a week now. The reason Is, Sam has been and Is still confined to his bed and room with a severe case offtulnsy. He Is Improving somewhat, however. Clarence L. Funk has returned home from his two-year mission in the California Cal-ifornia field. He reports having had a most excellent time and his healthy appearance does not deny his assertion. Bert Martin's moving picture show attracted a crowd to the hall Thursday Thurs-day night. Many good pictures were shown and all were pleased with tho entertainment. Saturday (tonight) "The Nashville Students" Is the title of a show which will appear In the hall. Tho usual price of tickets prevails. A tine new barber arrived In town a few days ago, tho result of which Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Bullcn are very jubilant. jubi-lant. Dr. Adamson attended tho big medical medi-cal meeting In Ogden Thursday. |
