In tho storeroom that every railroad rail-road maintains for the safe keeping of lost articles left In its care by forgetful for-getful passengers there are always to be found hundreds of umbrellas. But not every umbrella left In the cars Is lost long enough to find Its way to the lost department; it may fortunately fortu-nately be recovered sooner. .Here was a woman who had Just stepped from an elevated railroad train, to find it raining, and thus reminded: re-minded: . "Oh I my umbrella!" she said, and, turning to the train, which had already al-ready started along, she added: "Walt a minute!" a request by the train unheeded. un-heeded. And yet this woman rocovored her umbrella in a moment. "Here It Is," said another woman, who was traveling with her, had got off the car after her, and had gathered up her friend's umbrella with her own as Bhe enme along. So this forgetful passenger recovered recov-ered her umbrella promptly, but not all ore so fortunato; thousands of umbrellas um-brellas loft behind by passengers go to the lost departments every year. |
