Show I Accident To I Forest Offcer I James Leatham Vic- I tim of Runaway H James Leatham of Wcllsvllle; an H officer of the Forest service, died Sat B urday afternoon, November 28. fl The circumstances of this sad affair m cannot be clearly determined, but so m far as we are able to learn the accident H was caused by a run-away at the 1 Blacksmith Fork Ranger Station on fl the afternoon of November 27. Rang- H er Leatham was thrown from his H wagon and lay In an unconscious con- H dltlon for sometime. Upon regaining consciousness he managed to tie up B one of his horses and to reach the H cabin, but was unable to start a fire H and remained in this helplesscondliton H all night On Saturday morning he H managed to get on a horse and rodo H d J the canyon to Hyrum reaching Bj there at noon.- As a result of the In. H juries and severe cold he passed away Hj about three o'clock at Hyrum, H Ranger Leatham's home is In Wells- H ville, where he is mourned by a wife, H six children, and several brothers. B He wa about 42 years of age. On ac- HBb count of his fearess and sturdy dls- H position, perfect health, hencsty and H fidelity, and perfect knowledge of the H grazing business he was considered one H of the best olllcers of the local force, H , and it Is felt that it will be difficult B Mb to till his place. He was the first B man appointed on the Old Logan PpB Forest Reserve, he has worked con- pHjl tinuously for the government since his PPH appolrTtmcnt, and has always given PBVfl excellent service. Fgneral services PPH were held at Wellsville at one o'clock PPH yesterday. |
