Show A. C. of U. Board Gets Gay Bunch of Worthies Does a Stunt or Two That Entitles It to a Big Chromo. At the meeting In Salt Lake city Tuesday the A. C. Hoard or Trustees Issued a"manlfeUo"lhat Is tilled with buncombe, elected members of the faculty, gave leave of absence to ono who had not asked for It and accepted the resignation of a member of the present faculty, giving to the piess I the statement that the latter had re signed that he might engage In business busi-ness elsewhere a deliberate falsification. falsifica-tion. That "manifesto" Is worthy of dissection, dis-section, the comparative worth of the new members of the faculty might bo touched upon, but the forced "leave of absence" and the resignation referred refer-red to are the only matters to which wc can give space at this time. The leave of absence comes In the case of Mrs. Dallnda Cotcy, head of the Domcstlo Science department. Mrs. Cotey has been with the Institution Institu-tion thirteen years, Is recognized asa woman of Incomparable ability in licr line, keenly altrt to new developments, and as a woman of character, cultuie and rcllnemcnt is beyond reproach. Her dismissal, which the enforced leave of absence means, Is an outrage on public decency, as Is the board's disposition to screen Itself behind that "leave of absence" Idea. The resignation accepted was that of Prof. Ostlen, one of the strongest men that has ever been In the A. C. faculty. Mr. Ostlen resigned because lie had been Insulted, threatened by Prof. E. D. Hall, the forerunner of Dr. Wldtsoe, who has not yet mustered mus-tered tho courage to come to Logan. Prof. Ostlen gave tho reason for his resignation, but the Hoard gayo to the public tho idea tnat ho had resigned to go elsewhere. Ho had no thought of leaving for at least another year. These facts arc mentioned that the public may know. |
