Gilbert, Whitney; Orson H. Peterson, Newton; and William A. Noble, Smlthlleld. A. prominent dry farmer from tho west sldo of the valley says no raoro rain Is needed to assuro good wheat crops on dry farms, and If tho weather continues dry and warm much of tho grain will bo cut and some of it threshed in sixty days. The wheat Is now heading out. Two Newton ladles have recently undergone operations in Logan, both being afllicted with appendicitis. These unfortunates are Ella Jensen and Elizabeth Ecklund. Tho operations opera-tions were very successful and both ladles- arc eald to bo progressing nicely. The Methodists and Presbyterians havo decided to hold union services each Sunday evening during the summer. sum-mer. Tho Urst service of this kind was held ut tho Methodist Church Sunday evening, Rev, Clcmenson preaching tho sermon. Next Sunday evening tho service will bo at the Presbyterian Church. Rev. Last year George L. Parroll attended tho Irrigation congress at Denvor, where ho delivered an address on dry farming, which caused a great deal of favorable comment. Many communications communi-cations have been received by Mr. Farrell, making inquiries as to tho methods adopted by him In raising grain. Last week a gentleman from Nebraska who attended the convention conven-tion at Denver stopped oft at Cacho Junction, hired a saddle horso and visited Mr. Farrclfs farm at Peters-boro. Peters-boro. Ho was delighted with what ho saw, there being about ono thousand thou-sand acres of dry farm gialn about two and a half feet high, Just heading out. The visitor took notes of what he saw on his trip, so that a write-up of Cacho county will likely appear In some of tho eastern papers. |
