Tho town Is full of Greeks, Japs and Italians, who work cheaper than the white man "The reason there was such a boom here for carpenters, masons, etc., Is becauso this Ely Townslte Co. has bought all tho land around tho county good and cheap and Is bulldlnglhouses on small lots and making people think that It Is a largo place; but the town is twelve miles from the smelters which will not bo finished for two or three years at least nlno miles from tho mines, so you see It is hard 'to tell where tho main town is going to be. Tliero is no pay roll of any kind In tho country yet, It Is all outside money, and from tho way somo of the boys talk that have been here quite a while, there Is not very much of that left now.
