A young reportor on the Now York Bun, who stuttered fearfully, was sent ono day to try to get a statement from Mr. J. Plerpont Morgan. "Who and what aro you?" demanded Mr. Morgan. In moments of surprlso or nervous excitement the reporter's stammering always become acute, bo he stoo1 with Jaws locked, vainly trying to speak. . Mr. Morgan began to fume, and finally he sputtered: "What In the devil are you?" The reporter's sonso of humor did not sharo the clogging up of his speech, and, after much facial contortion, con-tortion, bo managed to gurgle out: "M-I oaaaam a,n elocutionist" v Mr. Morgan saw tho Joke, ho grimly grim-ly I relaxed 'and when the reporter's speech-consciousness returnod he got tho statement Saturday Evening Post. |
