Show TO HAVE OR NOT TO HAVE HOLIDAY Meeting to Be Held Tuesday Tues-day Night to Consider. Many of the Merchants are in Favor of It. At the Commercial Club meeting Wednesday evening, Messrs. Joseph Qulnncy and Charles England, of the Stake Su uday School Hoard, asked the club to take up and push tio half holiday holi-day Idea to success. 'I hey suggested the advisability of the merchants closing at least a half day each week, citing the fact that they and the clearks really need this recieailon.and then pointed-out that the giving of a half Holiday during the week would have a tendency to check the use of the Sabbath asa day for canyon trips, spoils and such like. Theie was considerable imformal discussion of the matter, members of the club boaid expressing themselves in favor of the Idea. It was tiicn decided de-cided to call a meeting of the business men for Tuesday evening May , at 8 o'clock for the purpose of considering consider-ing this matter. It Is urged that every business man in the city be present pre-sent at the club rooms at the time named to express an opinion for or against the proposition. A general canvas among the merchants mer-chants shows that, most are In favor of the half holiday. Thursday afternoon, after-noon, preferably, being given up. The date will be decided on at the meeting, If it Is demonstrated that a majority arc in favor of the Idea. A Suggestion. In connection with the half holiday, J. A. Hendrlckson suggests that the Logan City Hand be engaged to furnish music that afternoon. The band Is at some little expense In the matter of music, and should It play once a week, would employ three or four old band men to help them out. It Is estimated es-timated that Hie total cost would be about $100 a month, and Mr. Hcnd-rlckson Hcnd-rlckson suggests that thli amount be raised by donation. The business men could discuss this at the meeting Tuesday evening also, |
