Show A CITV BEAUTIFUL. A plot of ground east of the Thatcher Thatch-er orchestra's pavilion on Center street is covered by u nice lawn, clean and trim. That piece of ground Is not used us-ed and it might have been left unattended, unat-tended, given over to a rank growth of weeds and tree sprouts but It has not been left that way and that entire corner presents a neat and wholesome apDearance. For several years the lot on the west of Dr. 1). C. Budges splendid piece of property 'on First North street was little less than a wilderness of woe sunounded by a corral fence, and as a result the attractive Budge home showed at a disadvantage. Finally, a nice low fence was built in front of both pieces of property, that vacant lot put into good condition and today that property is as an oasis in a desert, it's bright, fresh and clean, a pleasure plea-sure to look at. There are many ulco lesldeuce properties in this city that are at a serious disadvantage as the result of unkept vacant lots near, and not Infrequently In-frequently because the lot on which a llrst class residence has been built Is left unattended, or perchance tilled up designedly with bushes and small trees. Before Logan can hope to have attractive residence sections, the people peo-ple who build houses must learn to build them on a rather high founda tion, with less ginger-bread ctlect, construct good lawns that arc left open In the center, surround the whole with a neat fence and then keep tne property free from noxious growth In back and front yards, as weh as In the vicinity of tho walk and ditches in front. Then, If there is not already one to that e licet, an ordinance should be passed requiring all owners of vacant lots within the city limits to keep them free from the growth of bushes, weeds, tall grass and such like. Nor should these lots be made dumping ground for tin cans or refuse material ma-terial of any kind. All this talk about city improvement improve-ment Is not likely to result In very satisfactory results until about 7,600 of the 8,000 people within the city limits have their Ideas radically changed j |
