Richmond, April 17, HHMi.--A company com-pany of young folks succeeded In making mak-ing a complete surprise Wednesday last on David Smith Jr., who left on a mission to Kngland Monday morning in company with his father. David Smith Sr., the Litter going to his native land for a few month's visit. Friday evening another surpiise paity was given in honor of Mr. Smith and son by their older friends All kinds of picnic and plenty of It was brought and an enjoyable time was had. This necessitated a delicate operation, live stitches being required to sew up the Incision made by the surgeon's knife. The latest reports arc that Mrs. Stout is improving rapidly which will be most welcome news to her many friends in Richmond. Good Day's Work. Principal F O. Nelson and tlio older pupils of the school spent a very busy Arbor day. One needs but to take a look over the school grounds to bu convinced of this fact. The dead and dying apple and plum trees which have decorated the grounds so long were reduced to ashes and every nook and corner uf the grounds raked over and all put In excellent shape. After fittingly observing tlw day, luncheon was served by Olive Peart and Marlon Merrill, which was greatly appreciated. appreciat-ed. Baseball Again. Tlio new baseball team of the Richmond Rich-mond Athetotic Club Is proving Itself to be made up of the right stuff. In their game with Smltlilleld they beat the Sandy city bunch by a score of 11 to 8, with one Inning yet due our home team. The basketball team, however, did not fare so well, as Smltlilleld beat them by a score of 15 to 12. Other Interesting games aie scheduled for the near future, which arc being watched with interest. Personal Mention. Alfred Anderson, the Richmond builder, will leave for Salt Lake with Ills family Wednesday. A parcy of his friends called on them Monday evening even-ing and spent an enjoyable time. Mr. Anderson will live at No. 4 Ontario ourt. The familiar and smiling face of W. I). Hendricks is seen again here, the gentleman and wife having returned last week from an outing In California. Cali-fornia. He reports having had a good time and Is Improved in health. Angus Wright and wife, prominent Ogdcnltcs, came up from the Junction city last week to sec Richmond and partlculary Mr Wright's sister, Mrs. Julia Petty. The High Creek Light & Power Co. have commenced active work again on their pole line. Surveyors arc up Muddy doing work there. L. C. Johnson and X. R. Tripp arc in Logan today, the former on Ills land deal business, while the latter Is attending at-tending the juiy. Orln Robinson and party left for Downey, Idaho, Monday morning, having shipped tils saw mill outfit there last week. R. F. Grant, of Salt Lake, was a Richmond visitor Wednesday. He came here to attend ttic funeral of Mrs. Merrill. Chas. Davenport, wife and son, of Habrll, Neb., arc here visiting Mr. Davenport's aunt, Mrs. Almlra Hendricks. Hend-ricks. Two long trails of Studcbakcr Ilros. wagons and buggies were brought In here Monday for this year's business. Arbor Day passed oil quietly here, all the stores being closed and business generally suspended. At this writing Marshal Hair Is quite III, being confined to his house with a severe cold. W. C. Lewis continues to be veiy ill and Is compelled to remain In bed entirely. en-tirely. Hyrum Hayball, of Logan, was here shaking hands with friends on Friday. A bright llttlo girl was born to Mri.
