Show Sunday Night Meeting T I o Sunday evening service at the Logan tabernacle was well attended. The music was good as usual, and several good talks were made. Ruhloti S. Wells said In part: "President Lund, mself and others came to this city today to meet with tho German speaking people. Thru tho efforts of the missionaries, many good people havo gathered to the mountains from their fatherland. Many of them are earnest workers and through their dlllgcnco they have abiding testimonies In the divine mission mis-sion of the Prophet Joseph. It is a natural Instinct In all mankind to worship a supremo being In some form. What Is this Instinct? It Is faith and all hac it In some degree. There is no salvation without faith in God and In his sou Jesus Christ. Repentance Re-pentance Is the following principle, which means tho forsaking sin. No unclean thing can cuter the Kingdom of God therefore a remission of sins is essential. Wo cannot forgive ourselves our-selves of our own sins, therefore some agency must be used In our behalf. Those who are saved will be saved through tho grace of God which Is free to all. Salvation will come to all In the due time of the Lord In many different degrees, celestial, telestlal, terrestrial. Somo may be cast into tho pit but will bo redeemed when the debt Is paid. The valiant and truo will havo no regrets to olTer In tho reckoning day, whllo on the other hand those who have placed no restraint on themselves through life will have a remorse of conscience and regrets w 111 be'ollercd when It Is too late." President Lund said In part: "Our Father In heaven Is Just. How wl.l wo feel upon returning to him if wo can present to him only the ono talent that he gave? Wo will not only be punished for tho sin of commission, but of omission. He that hath faith In God will progress, and those without with-out faith will remain as In the begin-Ing. begin-Ing. If any havo been addicted to ylce and were aided by him in overcoming over-coming It, they arc the ones that arc blest, not the Lord, only so far as he desires all his oftrpring to live aright. Exemption from the consequences of sin comes to us by the grace of God, and through this wc shall be amply rewarded for all the good done In life. We should not leave our Father's house, as did the prodigal son, but remain re-main hi the houso of our father and wc shall be considered his heirs al-wajs. al-wajs. Let us live with the Lord cnlly so that our prayers to him will be heard. I admonish the saints to h ive prajers In their homes and have the blessing of tho Lord upon their labors In tho day time and his protection through the night. If we want exaltation ex-altation wc must work for It. Brethren Breth-ren and sisters have wc lost our tlrst love? Is the gospel all to us? If so we will not be neglectful In our duties. Mlsslonlares abroad can preach the gospel, here .at home it is requisite that our actions should thow to all around us that wo desire to be the children of God, nut by word alone." Hugh J. Cannon said all saints should not depend upon others for a testimony, each one should know foi themselves. The speaker referred to the calumnies and scurrilous articles published, especially about President Joseph F. Smith, and said that no eulogy Is needed for him as his life and record Is before tho people. He suggested that the young not be misguided by dcluslyo spirits but to stay by men who havo devoted tholr whole lives for tho salvation of their fellowman. Ho also said that work Is the word as there Is no room for Idlers In the church. |
