Tho Idaho State Saving's llank of Preston has contracted for the building of their bank on the old Greaves corner at Preston. A larne force of men are at work, as the building Is to be completed com-pleted by August inth. If this Is done a tine plank walk will be laid from the depot north to town. Ed. Ilyan, caterer formerly, with the Davis car at Logan, Is here doing business In a car of his own. The people, peo-ple, here have .taken kindly to Mr. Ryan, and arc helping him In various ways, as he apparently understands his business. Ills family still resides in Logan. Thomas Jollcy, assessor of Oneida county, Is In a bad condition from a diseased bone lu the large toe of the right foot. Medical treatment Is being be-ing given but It Is feared that an amputation will be necessary, going back of the big toe Joint three Inches. Tho Preston Commercial Club has recently received a consignment of furniture for Its rooms. The reception recep-tion room is lilted up In elegant style. Tho club occupies the upper floor of the Rogers & Ilawkes building, comprising com-prising four rooms. The hot springs located about live miles north west of Preston will be opened to tho public today. Experts have visited tho springs recently and state that tho water contains healing properties that for rheumatism arc second to none. Tho Preston Drug company will commence at once to erect a new building, 00x20, north of their present location. This will bo two stories high and will be built at an approximate approxi-mate cost of $.',000. E. L. llalrd, deputy sliecp Inspector of Oneida county, has recently made a tour of the herds In this county. He has gone through about "5,000 head of sheep and linds them practically free from scab. Concrete piping Is being mado at Preston and Is being used on all the largo ditch crossings throughout the city. The pipe lias the appearance of being strong and durable. The R. M. IScll Telephone company has IIS 'phones In this city. Tho Independent In-dependent Telephone ccompany has men here to wire the city, also, which ,wlll take about two months. The Preston Lumbercompany, with Mr. lverson of Ogden, has contracted to build the PreSiOn opera house for the sum of $7,770. The building will be one story, COxllo. Tho Preston team and the Richmond Rich-mond junior aggregation of ball tosscrs played a game Wcdncsdry afternoon, score 13 to 4 In favor of tho Preston Lunch.
