Show Adult education program : expanded for 73 The Iron County School District Dis-trict will be expanding its educational edu-cational opportunities for adults this year, according to Marian Hahne, Adult Education Coordinator. Coor-dinator. The 1973 State Legislature Legis-lature passed a law providing free education for everyone up to and including 30 years of age who has not finished High School. The law was also amended ) to allow Issuance of General ! Educational Development Certificates Cer-tificates In lew of a high school diploma. These are awarded on the basis of acquired learning of an individual who may not have the required credit. The trict has for several years been providing high school completion comple-tion classes for adults. Last year 12 people attended evening even-ing classes and 4 were awarded award-ed Adult High School Diplomas. The opportunity will again be offered this year. Require-ments Require-ments are slightly different from regular High School and credit is awarded in other areas besides class room credit. The District recognizes that on the Job work is a learning experience ex-perience so credit may be offered of-fered for this. Military credit is recognized. Credit by testing is also awarded. Each individual has a different dif-ferent requirement because of his academic background so Mrs. Hahne would encourage interested people to get in touch with her In order to determine de-termine their needs. A copy of the students high school credit Is the beginning point. individual is required to successfully suc-cessfully pass the General Educational Ed-ucational Development which is administered at the Southern Utah State College for those in our area.
