Scouts from the Cedar Seventh Ward participated partic-ipated in an area training session Sat urday at the Cedar High School prior to attending the National Scout Jamboree. Cedar Scouts prepare for jamboree more about scouting, and getting get-ting to know other scouts and scouters from throughout the world, Mr. Challis said. Of the 35,000 scouts planning to attend the national meeting, each scout must raise $75 for registration, with additional ey, Kerry Cox, Steven Day, Paul Edwards, David Gardner, Mike Graf, Lane Halsey, Drew Hansen, Han-sen, Ronnie Houston, Steve Hunter, Brad Jackson, David Jorgensen, Charles Judd, Lyle Judd, Jeff Maxwell, Paul Mes- Thirty-one scouts and three leaders from Cedar Seventh LDS Ward will board the bus July 29 in order to attend the 1973 National Scout Jamboree at Farragut State Park, Idaho. A. T. Challis, scoutmaster for the group, said that this is the first time Troop 347 will experience exper-ience a National Jamboree. The boys and their leaders will enjoy one full week at the jamboree from August 1 to 7 earning merit badges, learning funds needed for transportation and group equipment. The Seventh Ward scouts are currently performing projects to obtain the money needed. A flea market held during the past week netted more than $700 for the fund. The troop members have also collected pop bottles, old newspapers, hauled hay, and painted parking park-ing stalls. They have sold Christmas candles, sponsored car washes, and conducted bake sales to earn the nearly $2500 required for the trip. Mr. Challis expressed his appreciation ap-preciation to members of the community who have assisted the boys by contributing toward to-ward their projects. Many Cedar City residents have donated time and goods as well as helping help-ing through the purchase of materials and services supplied by the scouts. Mr. Challis said that the scouts and leaders involved recognize rec-ognize the once in a lifetime opportunity available to the boys in making the trip to the jamboree.
