Show Area residents attend ten-day drug prevention training program Thirteen Cedar City area residents re-sidents are participating in a ten-day drug abuse prevention leadership training program at Bandera, Texas, conducted by the U.S. Office of Education's regional training center for the Southwest. Their training, which began July 9 and ended July 18, was funded by grants from the U.S. Office of Education to the Iron County School District and to Southern Utah State College under the nationwide "Help Communities Help Themselves" drug abuse prevention project. The thirteen are: Iron County School district r5 B. Kendall Jenson; Marie Leigh; Dean N. Pearson; Jack L. Stokes; Woodrow G. Truman; and Brent Turek, Cedar City and Max S. Dalley, Parowan. Southern Utah State College Kathryn Berg, Phillip C. Carter, Tom Kingsford, Bruce H. Osborne and Diana Wise, Cedar City; and Ladd Holman, Leamington. A total of 17 teams from Utah communities are participating partici-pating in the training cycle, said James D. Kazen, director of the Texas Center. A three-day follow-up workshop work-shop is scheduled to be held for the Utah teams in Utah in October. |
