Show Jim Bowns presents research data at Coyote Workshop A research project dealing with the coyote and predator damage assessment in the Cedar City area was presented at a Coyote Research Workshop held in Denver, Colorado. The predator damage assessment, one of the first such studies undertaken in the western states was presented at the meeting by researcher Jim Rowns. associate professor of life science at Southern Utah State College and range ecologist for the Utah Agricultural Experiment Ex-periment Station. Dr. Bowns presented the paper during the four-day conference dealing with coyote ecology and predation, damage assessment and control methods. Scientists from the United States, Canada and South Africa attended the conference conducted con-ducted by the Denver Research Center of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. A total of 56 papers were read. (t J. THOMAS FYANS Parowan Stake schedules quarterly confab PAROWAN - J. Thomas Fyans, Assistant to the Council of the Twelve, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will speak at the Parowan, Utah Stake Conference Saturday and Sunday December 7 and 8. Elder Fyans was called to be an Assistant to the Council of Twelve Apostles in April of 1974. He had previously served as a Regional Representative of the Council of the Twelve since October of 1967. Elder Fyans also has- served as a missionary in Latin America. He then was called as a bishop in the Butler Ward near Salt Lake City. He spent three years as president of the Church's mission in Uruguay. Following his mission assignment Elder Fyans has served as coordinator of the Church's "Area General Conferences" Con-ferences" in Great Britain, Mexico City, Munich and Stockholm. As an assistant to the Council of Twelve Apostles, he also serves as managing director of the Church's Internal Communications Com-munications Department. Stake President Phillip J. Hanks advises that all meetings will be held in the Parowan Third Ward. Leadership meetings will be held Saturday December 7. To accomodate the entire mcmbersip of the Stake as well as all interested guests two General Sessions will be held on Sunday with the first being at 8:30a.m. and being primarily for the Parowan Second, Enoch, and Summit wards. The Paragonah and Parowan First and Third Wards will commence their meeting at 11 a.m. All interested persons are invited to attend. |
