The Parowan High School wrestling team placed second in the Region Eight 1-A wres-ling wres-ling tournament held at the Millard High School in Fillmore Fill-more on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 16 and 17. The Piute High School mat team from Junction was awarded the first place rto-phy rto-phy with 98 H team points. The Parowan Rams took second sec-ond place with 93 team points. Beaver High School came in third with 64 team points; Panguitch was in fourth place with 63 points; Kanab had 44 for a fifth place finish and Milford came in last with 41 Va team points. Four of the Parowan Ram grapplers won first place medals me-dals and places in the Region Eight 1-A meet and will now advance to the Utah State 1-A wrestling meet to be held, in Panguitch on Friday and Saturday, Sat-urday, Feb. 23 and 24. Those who received first place awards were: Craig White in the 112 lb. class; Brad Jones at 155 lbs.; Joe Williamson at 185 lbs and Bill Tincher in the Unlimited weight class. Other wrestlers who placed In the regional meet were: David Orton third at 98 lbs. Chuck Warner 4th at 105 lbs. Lee Oglesby 3rd at 119 lbs. Craig Pendleton 3rd at 132 lbs. Larry Kellogg 4th at 138 lbs. Johnny Dalton 4th at 145 lbs Brian Gurr 4th at 167 pounds. The Parowan Rams went into in-to the Region Eight meet with an overall record for the year of 12 wins and 7 losses, and a Region record of nine wins and one loss. Parowan High School principal prin-cipal Richard Dotson had this to say about the wrestling season that is coming to an end that he was very pleased with the program as a whole this year. Coach Dave Jenson and Teacher Trainee Steve Hennefer have done a very good job during the season and we were successful in winning four championships at the Region meet.
