Show Cedar economy receives Guard boost The fact that a unit of the Utah National Guard is stationed sta-tioned in Cedar City has meant some $150,000.00 to the local economy. That's the approximate ap-proximate annual payroll paid to members of Headquarters, 2nd Battalion, 222 FA most of whom live in the immediate immedi-ate area. The figures, released this week from the office of Utah Adjutant General, Major General Gen-eral Maurice L. Watts, do not include Federal funds used to purchase supplies, spare parts, gasoline, oil, fuel and the like. The unit presently Is comprised com-prised of 136 officers and men. General Watts also noted that the National Guard is supported for about 17 of the cost of an active Army unit. In looking at the cost of supporting sup-porting the Utah National Guard, General Watts pointed out that some $250 is spent per Guardsman from federal funds while only $63 in State appropriations is spent per |
