Show Prion ends 45-year newspaper career w A i p ; f Y - J 0 if ) Forty-five years of service to the newspaper industry of Iron County will end this month with the retirement of Claude Orton from the staff at , Iron County Record, Orton, a native of Parowan, began his career with the "Parowan Times" in Parowan in February Febru-ary 1928. Since that time he has continually been associated with the newspaper industry. Ills carreer of neary one-half century included many tasks and assignments. He began as a worker work-er with the Parowan Times and took over management man-agement and the editorship of that paper in 1936. He continued as editor of the Times through 1960. For another two years he remained on the staff of the Times and again took over the editorship in 1942 and continued that position until 1946. From the Times Claude shifted to the Iron County Record in Cedar City and has been associated as-sociated with the Record since that time. At the Record Claude has served as a linotype operator and for nearly 20 years has also edited and assumed as-sumed responsibility for the Parowan Section. Not only will he be retiring from his position at the Record but he is also retiring as the Parowan Paro-wan page editor. Claude plans to continue to make his home in Parowan where he will continue to be active in community and church affairs. He plans to devote much of his time to his yard and garden, which have been a pride and joy for many years. We at the Record extended our sincere best wishes to Claude and to his family. We appreciate our association with him and we, like those who have followed his career will sorely miss his contribution. WILL RETIRE. Claude Orton, in his familiar spot at the Iron County Record.
