Show Welfare Reform Public Meeting slated Guardsmanway. Those who are unable to attend the Salt Lake City meeting are invited to send their written comments to the Acting Regional Director, U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, 1961 Stout Street, Denver, Colorado, 80294, no later than April 1, 1977. A public meeting on the subject of welfare reform will be held in Salt Lake City on Friday, April 1, 1977, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Veteran Administration Complex, Com-plex, Building 9 Theater, 500 Foothill Drive. The public meeting is part of an effort by the Denver Regional Office of the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, to receive comment and suggestions from the public and interested organizations on how to refor the welfare system, according to Edwin R. Lapedis, Acting Regional Director of the Denver Regional Office of HEW. Ideas and suggestions on welfare reform resulting from the public meeting in Salt Lake City will be included in a report to HEW Secretary Joseph Califano, who is scheduled to present proposed welfare reform recommendations to President Carter by May 1, 1977. In announcing the meeting, Lapedis asked that each person presenting testimony hold his or her remarks to approximately 10 minutes. He also asked that where possible, those participating par-ticipating provide one copy of their written remarks. Participants Par-ticipants generally will be heard on a first-come, first-served basis except in those instances where persons have asked for a specific time to testify. Those wishing to testify at a specific time should call the Denver Regional Office of HEW, (303) 837-3373 no later than Thursday, March 31, 1977. Presiding at the Salt Lake City meeting on welfare reform will be Edwin R. Lapedis, Acting Regional Director, HEW, Denver and Ray Myric,, Associate Regional Commissioner of the Social Rehabilitation Service, Denver.
