Creative Writing Contest Winners Sponsored by Southern Utah State College and Cedar Junior High School, the Southern Utah Creative Writing Contest winners win-ners have been names, with 28 students picking up, honors. The contest was the first such competition, according to Lana Johnson, chairman of the event and teacher at Cedar Junior High. All entries were judged by Dr. Dave Lee, chairman of the English Department, SUSC. Categories included poetry with a southern Utah theme, humorous poetry, short story and serious poetry. First place winners were awarded a certificate cer-tificate and $10, second place $5, and $3 for third place. There were also honorable mention certificates in some of the categories. Ms. Johnson also said the winning entries will be read by the students during April, in the new media center of the junior high school addition. Winners in the various categories were: Southern Utah poetry: First Place, Jana Price; Second place, Neil Bladen: Third place, Mike Chidester. Humorous-First place, Angie Gardner; Second place Marin Anderson; Third place, Mike Holper, Melody Farnsworth, Jeannette LeFevre. Honorable Mentions, Johnny Curtis, Crystal Wride and Linda Nohejl. Serious poetry-Jill Taysom, first; Ann Baker, Second; Suzanne Radmall, Wade Mc-Donough, Mc-Donough, and Maria Luneeford. Honorable Mentions included Crystal Wride, Gary Bulloch, Cathy Mitchell, Tonja Widick, Julie Robb, Mike Chidester, Melissa Bishop, Sarena Johnson, Lori Parry and Brent Stapely, Parowan.
