Garth Joners explains his role in politics to sixth grade students at North Elementary School. Sixth grade students at North Elementary School have the opportunity each week to hear invited guests explain their role in the "world of work". Invited guests have included: in-cluded: Brent Hunter, farmer; Wendell Brooks'jy, Veterinarian; Wayne Smith, owner operator of Cedar Packing Co. ; S. Garth Jones, State Representative for Iron and Kane Counties. Eield trips are coordinated to correspond with subjects studied. Students have visited Cedar Packing Co., Cedar City Auction, and Blowhard Radar station. Other guests representing areas such as politics, law, media, health, public service, ser-vice, local businesses, various occupations, sports, Government agencies, city and state governments, and others will be coming to school during the remainder of the year. Students develop skills in listening, interviewing, inquiry, all aspects of the language arts skills, and an awareness of what happens in the community and state. WORLD OF WORK. Each week students at the North Elementary hear a guest lecture dealing with the role in the "world of work." Here S. Garth Jones addresses the students. Field trips are also planned through the educational core. |
