Lewis 1:00 p.m. Eastern NM at Panhandle State, Oklahoma 6:30 p.m. Mesa at NM Highlands 1:00 p.m. Western State at Westminster West-minster 1 :00 p.m. Southern Colorado at Southern Utah 1:00 p.m. Western State (7-0) remains the only unbeaten team in NAIA District Seven with just three weeks left in the regular season. Coach Bill Noxon's squad was ranked number four in the latest NAIA ratings as the Mountaineers look like they have cinched their third district title in a row. The powerful Mountaineers Moun-taineers travel to Salt Lake City Saturday for a game with Westminster (2-4). In other District Seven contests Saturday, Adams State (4-3) plays at Western New Mexico (4-2), Colorado Mines (2-5) travels to Durango to meet Ft. Lewis (2-5), Eastern New Mexico (4-4) goes to Panhandle State, Oklahoma, Mesa (3-4) will be in Las Vegas New Mexico to take on New Mexico Highlands (0-8) and Southern Colorado (6-1) faces Southern Utah (5-2) in Cedar City. Last week Western Slate got a scare from Southern Colorado but won 51-43, Western New Mexico upset Southern Utah 14-10, Adams State got back on the winning win-ning track with a 34-8 victory over Colorado Mines, Westminster got by New Mexico Highlands 27-25, Mesa nipped Ft. Lewis 22-21 and Eastern New Mexico surprised Northern Colorado 14-13. THOMPSON - PATTON -HELMS GAIN HONORS. Quarterbacks Charlie Thompson of Western State and Doug Patton of Eastern New Mexico have been selected as co-offensive players of the week while safety Weldon Nelms of Western New Mexico has been picked as defensive player of the week in District Seven. Thompson, a 5-10, 180 pound, junior from Boulder, Colorado rushed for 198 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns while passing for 215 yards and two scores in Western's 51-43 victory over Southern Colroado. It was the second week in a row Thompson has gained the honor. Patton a 6-0, 185 pound, junior and native of Bar-stow, Bar-stow, California got his first start of the year and responded by hitting on 12 of 16 passes for 213 yards and both Eastern's touchdowns in the Greyhounds 14-13 win over Northern Colorado. His touchdown passes were good for 55 and 13 yards. Nelms, a 6-1, 180 pound, senior from Plains, Texas played outstanding in Western New Mexico's 14-10 upsetr of Southern Utah. On the day he chalked up 14 tackles (7 solo, 7 assists), recovered a fumble, and had two key pass interceptions.
