One New York reporter claims Loomis to be "a rare combination of Houdini and Doug Henning." On July 4th, 1976, in Ann Arbor Michigan, Loomis escaped from a regulation strait-jacket while hanging upside down as Houdini used to do. But Loomis did it while hanging by his knees from a trapeze bar, 150 feet in the air, Two major activities will be showing in Cedar City during the next several weeks, both being sponsored by the Cedar City Jaycees. For one day only, Jungle Wonders, ;a wild ; animal Clrcits'wlll be playing in the parking lot behind State Bank of Southern Utah. Saturday, April 8, the travelling circus will perform per-form at 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. This show will be "under the big top" with a center ring. Twenty-five acts are scheduled to appear with the circus, including the high-wire high-wire act, "The Butterfly Man," chimps, trapeze, trained horses and plenty of crowd-pleasing clowns. There will be no admission charge to see the wild jungle animal displays which include in-clude tons of elephants, racing ostriches, bears, lions, llamas and all the rest. Tickets for the circus portion of the show can be obtained from the Jaycees of Cedar City. On Friday, April 14, Magic-Capades, the largest traveling magic show in the country will appear in the Cedar High School Auditorium at 4:30 and 8:00 p.m. suspended Deneatn a helicopter. Loomis is a personal friend of Illusionist Doug Henning of Broadway and television fame and participated par-ticipated in the design of one of Henning's illusions for his N.B.C. 'World of Magic" television special. In July of 1975, Loomis was the closing act of the Headliner Show at the International In-ternational Convention of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. His modern, non-traditional, act was the talk of the convention. H. Adrian Smith, Past President of the International In-ternational Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians had this to say about Loomis' levitation illusion, the final scene in the MAGIC-CAPADES MAGIC-CAPADES show: "...one of the best levitations I have seen in years; it must certainly rank among the most outstanding out-standing floating ladies to be seen anywhere." During 1977 the MAGIC-CAPADES MAGIC-CAPADES troup traveled over 60,000 miles, and performed in 17 states, primarily in the western half of the United States. During 1978 the show will travel to over 200 towns and cities from the East Coast to the West Coast. |
