Show Annual Art Exhibitwell attended A capacity crowd heralded the opening of the 36th Annual Cedar City National subjects, techniques and materials. The exhibition will run through April 30, 1977. Extended gallery hours include 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Sun-days. Classes and organized groups are asked to schedule their visits in advance. Guide service is available. The Cedar City Art Committee is a committee of the Cedar City Coordinating Council. The Committee is financially supported by private donations and a grant from the Utah Division of Fine Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, Washington, D.C., a federal agency created by an act of Congress in 1965. Art Exhibition, April 7, in the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery, Southern Utah State College. Joseph Mugnaini, noted guest artist from Los Angeles, presented a lecture and demonstration on the "Hidden Elements of Design." Since the exhibition's opening, gallery visits have been steady, including conducted visits of public school classes from Utah and Arizona schools. The Cedar City Art Committee announced the award recipients as selected by Mr. Mugnaini. PURCHASE PUR-CHASE AWARDS went to Analee Schorr, Parker, Colorado; Muriel Wolfson, Los Angles; Sylvia Glass, Woodland Hills, Calif.; Ron Schrubbe, Wausau, Wisconsin; Future Akins, Lubbock, Texas; Jennifer Gibbar, Long Beach, Calif, and George Robinson, St. Paul, Minnesota. AWARDS went to Bob Boxco, Omaha, Nebraska; Kenneth Dixon, Lubbock, Texas and Deborah Freiser, No. Hollywood, Calif. SECOND PLACE AWARDS went to Alan Newberg, Billings, Montana; Lee Ann Miller, Kansas City, Mo. and Michael Lasuchin, Philadelphia. THIRD PLACE AWARDS went to Ronald Christ, Wichita, Kansas; Karen Dienstbier, Lincoln Nebraska and Linda S. Mundwiler, Tempe, Arizona. In addition, 14 awards of HONORABLE MENTION were given. The 36th Annual Exhibition includes a variety of current developments in American art--ranging from traditional to avantgarde approaches in a variety of |
