Show Geothermal Activity analysed by Geologist Gary Crosby, director of geothermal exploration for Phillips's Petroleum Company, will be the guest speaker for two National Engineering Week activities here February 25 Dr. Crosby will speak to a Southern Utah State College audience at 9 a.m. in the SUSC Music Recital Hall. The meeting is open to all interested students and towaspeople and is being sponsored by the SUSC Engineering Department. The Delmar, California, geologist will also speak at an engineering banquet later that evening at the Town & Country Restaurant. The no host event will begin at 7 p m. and is beine co-sponsored by the SUSC Engineering Department and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Dr. Crosby will talk about geothermal activity in the Milford area in addition to providing southern Utah audiences with general information in-formation about geothermal activity and the place it w ill have in regards to future energy needs. "We are very pleased to have Dr. Crosby visit Cedar City," Richard N. Kimballk. associate professor of engineering, said. "The geothermal discussion w ill be in keeping with previous energy-orented topics which have been discussed here during National Engineering Week." Professor Kimball notes that the theme for the February 20-26 observance is: Engineering-The Key to the Future. National Engineering Week is always held the w eek of George Washington's birthday. The first U.S. President was also one of America's first surveyors, Kimball said. |
