Fletcher in marriage Mrs. Ruby Fletcher, Mrs. Virginia Bauer and Mrs. Lola Wilson helped Mrs. Lorene Bradshaw in the kitchen while Debbie and Darcy Fletcher, wearing pink pinafores pina-fores served refreshments to the guests in the garden. The bride wore a slack suit of green and beige crepe as she left with her new husband hus-band for their two-day honeymoon honey-moon to a secluded mountain cabin in Long Valley. The bride attended Cedar schools all but one year which she spent at Milford High School. She was active in dramatics dra-matics in high school and college. She played the part Miss Judie Sherratt became the bride of Rodney Howard Fletcher on July 30 in rites solemnized in the St. George Temple. President Rudger Atkin officiated at the double doub-le ring ceremony. That evening the young couple was feted at a garden reception at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Gwen H. Sherratt. On Aug. 1st the newlyweds were further honored at an open house in Salt Lake at the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard How-ard O. B. Fletcher. The bride's dress was made of viole crepe with an empire waist, chapel train and full of Mermia in Midsummers Nights Dream which was taken tak-en to the University of Utah for intercollegiate competition. competi-tion. She was in the Thunder-ettes Thunder-ettes at SUSC and participated participat-ed in the Drama Club making mak-ing a trip to New York with the group in the Spring of 1966. She worked at the lodge in Grand Canyon for three summers. She left for an LDS mission to Norway in 1967 and returned last December. The bridegroom started school in Lethridge, Canada and continued later in Salt Lake City. He was active in choral groups at East High and also Weber College where he went after returning from an -LDS mission to Norway. The couple became acquainted acquaint-ed in Oslo and Trondheim, sleeves gathered into a "Gibson "Gib-son Girl" cuff. Old fashioned embroidered braid was used to trim the high neckline, waist and sleeves. The finger I tip veil was gathered into a circle of matching braid. Her bouquet, made by Cloe Limb, was of white roses and orchids, or-chids, interwoven with a wedding wed-ding lei sent from Hawaii by the bride's sister Mrs. Barbara Jean Walker. Receiving the guests were the bride's brother, James Reed Sherratt and mother with the bridegroom's parents. par-ents. Maid of honor was Miss Carol Petty of New Harmony dressed in a blue Empire waist dress of stripped voile. Other attendants were the bride's sisters, Mrs. Paul (Car-oleen. (Car-oleen. Wyatt, Mrs. Norman Norway. Mr. Fletcher attended BYU this past year majoring in the humanities and coaching. The couple will live at Wy-mount Wy-mount Terrace in Provo where both plan to continue their educations to become teachers. teach-ers. Visitors from out of town were Mrs. Ruby Fletcher and four children from Canada; Mrs- Grace Miller, Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Sherratt, Orange, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Sherratt, Milford; Mr. Louis E. Heaton, Caracas, Venezula; and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Heaton, Kanab. A kitchen shower was given giv-en for the bride by Mrs. Fen-ning Fen-ning Anderson and her daughter, June 6 in Salt Lake. Mrs. Alice Alexander and Mrs. Darce Prince gave her a personal shower in Cedar July 6; and Mrs. Grace Miller entertained for her with a lingerie shower. Pin-tura. Mr. and Mrs. Elsworth Flannigan recently spent a few days in Salt Lake with their daughters. (Gaylyn) Amen; and Mrs. Reid (Jolene) Sherratt. They were dressed in matching dresses of pink striped voile. Four nieces of the couple were junior bridesmaids dressed dres-sed in long blue dresses. They were Misses Georgia Gay Amen, Becky Fletcher, and Leslie Gay and Marvo Whit-more. Whit-more. All attendants carried bouquets bou-quets of pink and white roses tied into white lace fans. Best man was Scott Warner BOT basketball star; and ushering was done by Captain Cap-tain Norman Childs in full dress uniform and LaVoy E. Whitmore. Mrs. Sherratt wore a long blue crepe dress trimmed with blue sequins at the neck and sleeves- Mrs. Fletcher wore a long two piece pink crepe trimmed with wide lace. Both mothers had bouquets of pink roses. 'Mrs. Karen Hanson played background music on the organ or-gan ,and a short program was given during the reception. The program, under the direction di-rection of Norman Childs, master of ceremonies, consisted con-sisted of Debby, Darcy and Curtis Fletcher singing "Hither Thou Goest"; Mrs. Caroleen Wyatt gave a humorous hum-orous history of the bride; and Mr. Howard Fletcher gave one of the bridegroom. The young couple sang "Walk With God." Ora Smith dressed , in an old fashioned dress of blue plaid presided at the guest-book. guest-book. Mrs. Allen Heaton, Mrs. R. L. Durrant and Karla Swope received the gifts which were displayed in a genuine "marriage carriage", a buckboard which had been used by a bridal couple going go-ing to Salt Lake about 88 years ago. |
