Diamond Jubilee plans underway I Plans for the 75th "year Diamond Julbilee celebration at Southern Utah State College are underway to make this year' one of the most significant signifi-cant in the school's history, it was announced by Dr. Royden C. Braithwaite, SUSO president. presi-dent. This month commemorates the founding of Branch Normal Nor-mal School in March of 1897 following approval of the Cedar City location by the first Utah State Legislature. The School later became Branch Agricultural College, College of Southern Utah, and since July, 1969, has been Southern . Utah State College. Paramount among the act ivities of the year will be the retelling of the story of the college founding by Cedar City pioneers who sacrificed their own homes and worldly goods to build Old Maiin, the first campus building. Students, faculty, adminis." trators, alumni, and towns-people towns-people will join forces to make the year long celebration one of remembrance and a force for future development, Dr. Braithwaite said. The year's events will be climaxed by dedication ceremonies for the new Administration Building, now under construction. Another project to be realized real-ized during the next year is completion of landscaping on the' upper campus and devel opment of the mall area dom j inating the campus center. Of importance in Jinkin-the Jinkin-the past and the future is the proposed renovation of the ok Administration Bull ding which Will feature a moden j Interior and traditional exter lor. Special information regarding regard-ing the history and significance significan-ce of the college will be pub lished locally and throughout the state.
