Show Two SUSC baseball players gain RMAC Conference honors Two Southern Utah State College athletes have been named to NAIA all-conference teams, it was announced by Cleo Petty, SUSC baseball coach. Douglas "Tex" "Anthony, Las Vegas, Nev. was selected as first team shortstop, and Jon Hoover, Orem, received honorable hon-orable mention as a third baseman. Anthony was recently designated de-signated as "Athlete of the Year" at SUSC. In 41 baseball games during spring quarter he hit 11 homeruns and batted in 49 runs for a season average aver-age of .333, He was top hitter on the Thunderbird team and led batting in the RMAC play-offs play-offs in Pueblo, Colorado May 7-9. Hoover led his team in stolen stol-en bases, with 17 during the season. He is a team leader highly regarded for his fielding field-ing ability. According to Coach Petty, Hoover is the most capable third baseman he has ever coached. |
