Counties spend 19 percent of the property pro-perty tax dollar while schools account for over 65 percent plus all state Corporate ami individual income taxes, and a largo part of the sales tax dollar. The association explains this by saying that people think school budgets are too technical to bo questioned in-telligently. in-telligently. The Utah Taxpayers Association Assoc-iation also points out, in another an-other area, that state expenditures expend-itures for medical aid to welfare wel-fare recipients Increased 01 percent over the past two years- This is compared to a percent Increase In stats I spending for the two year period. , Biggest increase in this ar-! ar-! ci was a whopping 1-18 percent. per-cent. The Tax Watchdog organization or-ganization noted that between 17 and l!)(i) total welfare spending increased 27 percent, against 61 percent in medical care expenditures. In the Interest of herself her-self she kept track of the weather conditions in Cedar" City each day of the month of May and came up with some rather startling facts. For Instance, according to her reliable figures during the month of May the wind blew are you ready for this only nine days. Of the total of 31 days she rated 10 as super spring days and 6 as just good days. There were only two days in the month when the weather was cool and overcast and three of the days were nice in the morning but the wind came up and blew during the afternoons. af-ternoons. Even if you add these three to the already mentioned nine days it totals out only 12 that the wind was a factor in the month. One day in May it rained. On May 7th it threatened rain and rained all around Cedar City but not in the community proper. Well there it is. A weather report and it proves an old |
