Show Cedar students to receive degrees at University of Utah exercises . .. r. . . t X f. . ' ' vl t . .... , . j " ' J KENTON W. WILLIS Four Cedar City students and a former graduate of Southern Utah State have been listed among the more than GOO who are candidates for advanced degrees at the University of Utan's 101st annual an-nual commencement to be held June 5. All University graduates and members of the faculty and administration will participate par-ticipate in the ceremony in the new 15,000 seat special events ev-ents center. Commencement speaker will be Earl Warren, retired Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Students to receive advanced advanc-ed degrees include: Kenton W. Willis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Willis who will receive his Juris Doctorate degree de-gree in law. Willis received an associate degree from Southern Utah State College, his bachelor's from Brigham Young University. He has been a member of Theta Phi legal fraternity; a research assistant to Prof. Edwin Firm-age Firm-age of the U of U College of Law and the recipient of book awards for legal scholarships. Currently he is employed as a part time legal research assistant as-sistant for Terracor, Inc. and expects to enter legal practice prac-tice in one of the western states. Merrell R. Jones, son of Mrs. Daniel M. Jones of Cedar City will receive his doctorate in physics with a minor in math- i ematics. He is married to the former Carol Ann Parry of Ce- ; dar City and they have four i children. Jones received his bachelors degree from the U j of U and has been affiliated , with several academic organizations organ-izations on the Salt Lake City campus. Currently he is assistant as-sistant professor of Physics and Mathematics at Southern Utah State College in Cedar City. Lorin W. Brown will also receive a doctorate in physics with a minor in mathematics. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Brown of Cedar City and is married to the former Marilyn Thompson of Logan-Brown Logan-Brown is currently on active duty with the United States Navy holding the rank of Lieutenant Commander and will continue a career in naval nav-al aviation. Brown has been affiliated with honorary fraternities including in-cluding Sigma Pi Sigma and the Pi Mu Epsilon. He received receiv-ed his bachelor's degree from the U of U in 1959. Hurley D- Hansen, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hansen of Cedar City will receive his master of science education degree at the exercises. Hansen Han-sen received his bachelor's from Utah State University in 1962. He is married to the former Margo Harding and they have two children. Currently Cur-rently he is employed by the Salt Lake City Board of Education Edu-cation and plans to continue his teaching career at the Souheast Junior High School in the capitol city. : Former SUSC political science sci-ence graduate Gayle F. Mc-Keachnie Mc-Keachnie and a native of Vernal, Ver-nal, will also receive his Juris Doctorate at the exercises. He was a studentbody officer and member of the varsity basketball basket-ball team while at SUSC and is presently employed with the law firm of Senior and Enior in Salt Lake City. LORIN W.
