Show ELLEN DeMILLE Rockville Coed is SUSC speaker Juno 5 at 2 p.m. in the auditorium audi-torium will climax the week's activities. Speaker will be Elder Eld-er Sterling W. Sill, Assistant to the Council of Twelve Apostles, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Ellen DeMille, senior in Family Fam-ily Life, will be valedictorian. Music will be provided by the SUSC Orchestra, directed by Harold Boyce. As a special commencement ceremony, honorary degrees will be awarded to Dr. Terrell Howard Bell, Associate Commissioner Com-missioner of Education for Re. gional Offices, and the late Professor Roy L. Rockville, will deliver the Val-edictory Val-edictory Address at Southern Utah State College Commencement Commence-ment exercises Friday, June 5 at 2 p.m. in the SUSC Auditor-ium- Miss DeMille is a Family for commencement will be offered of-fered by Gary Jensen and Katherine Leydsman. Presentation of graduates will be by Deans Morris A. Shirts, Education; Wesley P. Larsen, Sciences; A. W. Stephenson, Steph-enson, Business and Technology, Technol-ogy, and Eugene T. Woolf, Arts and Letters. A total of 254 students will receive baccalaureate degrees- Life major with minors in Chemistry and Business. After Af-ter graduation she plans to work toward a Master's degree de-gree in Foods and Nutrition. She has maintained a nearly perfect scholastic record for her four years at SUSC. SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES Commencement week activities activ-ities at Southern Utah State College began Sunday, May 31 with the annual Honors and Awards Convocation in the SUSC Auditorium. A total of 132 students received scholarships scholar-ships and special awards. The traditional PUT (Putting (Put-ting Hubby Through) program was held June 3 at 7 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall. Mrs-Ann Mrs-Ann Leavitt was guest speaker, speak-er, and Dr. Hoyden C. lira it h-waite, h-waite, SUSC president, awarded award-ed certificates of recognition to the 59 wives participating in the PUT program. Mr. and Mrs. Paul White represented the students and wives. Music was provided by the SUSC Chamber Choir under the direction di-rection of Dr. Blaine Johnson. Georgia Beth Smith, SUSC dean of women, is coordinator of the program. President, and Mrs. Braith-waite Braith-waite will conduct a reception for graduates, parents, friends and special guests June 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Braith-waite Braith-waite residence, 257 South 700 West. Baccalaureate services that evening will feature as guest speaker Dr. Leon McCarrey, Associate Commissioner for Academic Affairs, Utah State Board of Higher Education. The program will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Music by the SUSC Concert Band will be under the direction of Harold Har-old Boyce. Invocation and benediction will be given by Patric R- Creamer and Wendy S. Homer. A buffet dinner for graduates gradu-ates and guests is planned immediately following the Baccalaureate Services in the Student Center. Commencement exercises |
