Show Seminary Building Fund drive fails to reach goal j The drive for funds for the construction of a new Semin-i Semin-i ary Building in Parowan, un-I un-I derway for the past two month, is way behind the goal i set when the drive began, it is reported by Ernest Ahl-born, Ahl-born, secretary of the fund drive for Parowan Stake. Mr. Ahlborn states that as of last week end, when it had been heped that SlilXX), or ' enough to get construction under way, that only GO'; of that amount had been raised j by the four participating wards. The $0000 goal was set for May 1, with the contract for the construction of the almost $10,000 building, to be awarded award-ed by June 1. Both of these goals have now gone by the board, and a strenuous effort must be made to complete the drive in order to get work started in another month.. One ward, Parowan Third, is just short of its quota, ' with the Parowan First, and Second and Paragonah farther behind. The $6,000.00 must be on hand before the LDS Church will advance its portion por-tion of the cost, and permit construction work to begin. In the meantime, the work of demolishing the unused portion of the present Seminary Semin-ary building has gone steadily stead-ily ahead with students and priesthood members contributing contrib-uting the labor. It had been hoped that with a June 1 start on the building, it would be ready for use when school begins be-gins in the fall. This now appears ap-pears to be a definite impossibility. |
