Show Jaycees take over lead in Little League race Jaycees moved into the lead in the early stages of the Cedar Ce-dar City National Little League Lea-gue baseball program Tuesday Tues-day night with a come from behind 14' to 8 victory over Arctic Circle. Arctic Circle took the early lead with a single run in the first inning of play. Jaycees rallied with three in the third to take a 3-1 edge but in the fifth Arctic Circle belted in seven runs to move out in front 8-3. Jaycess added four ' in the fifth and pushed in sev.3n in the sixth fof 'the victory. vic-tory. Kevin Averett homered for'Jayc-oes and Mac Matheson belted a round tripper for Averett and Steve Hair saw mound duty for the victors. Arctic Circle sent Fred Wright, Steve Jenson and Brad Black-ner Black-ner to the mound. Monday evening it was Lions staging the come from behind victory to nip Elks by a score of 11 to 10. Early in the game Elks held a 10 to 1 lead but Lions pushed in four runs in the fourth and added six in th,e fifth to take the .victory. Lions had 14 singles In th game and were led at the plate by Sage White who hit lour for four. .. . Piatt hit a three run homer for' Elks but it was not enough. Jsff. Paddock suffered the mound loss' and E. J. Corry of Lions picked up the win. |
